April – Braves First Regular Season Game at SunTrust Park

The Atlanta Braves professional baseball team now have a new stadium. The first regular season game is scheduled for April 14th versus the San Diago Padres. Though pre-season games have already started and the UGA Bulldogs will actually be the first to compete in the stadium, this is a great chance to say you saw the first games at the shining new stadium. Just 10 miles, from downtown Atlanta this stadium offers many new amenities, great dining, shopping and much more!

May – Shaky Knees Music Festival in Centennial Olympic Park

This annual music festival started in 2013. The festival is from May 12-14th and has dozens of indie-folk and soul-rock bands on multiple stages, plus local food and craft beer at Centennial Olympic Park. This unique festival features performances from 60 different bands. Food and beer from some of Atlanta’s most well-known names will keep everyone happy. July – Mercedes-Benz Stadium Opens for Atlanta United Soccer Game

This new stadium will host both the Atlanta Falcons NFL team and the Atlanta United FC Major League Soccer team. The first scheduled event is the Atlanta United FC game on July 30, 2017. This new stadium is already scheduled to host Super Bowl LIII in 2019. Constructed next to the current Georgia Dome, this $1.6 billion stadium will feature a fully retractable roof, competitive concession prices, and massive windows overlooking the Atlanta Skyline. October – Country Living Fair at Stone Mountain

Enjoy booths from over 200 vendors as you walk through the natural landscape of Stone Mountain Park.  Presentations will be given by television personalities and well-known brands. This is a great event to get in touch with your southern charm. Shop antiques, housewares, cooking and gardening supplies. December – The Atlanta Ballet’s Nut Cracker at the Fabulous Fox Theatre

With performances from December 8th – 28th, the Nut Cracker performed by The Atlanta Ballet is an annual event for many. Make more of your day than just the show, be sure to schedule a tour of The Fabulous Fox Theatre to learn more about its history. With choreography by John McFall and music by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky which is performed live by Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, this event is perfect for the young and young at heart. This is the last year that this version of The Nutcracker will be performed before a new production premier’s in 2018.
